Dr. Sanjeet Grewal's primary interests are centered around translational science in epilepsy and movement disorders. This work includes basic science research on advanced stem cell techniques, as well as clinical trials for gene therapy and new indications for neuromodulation.

2025 Coding Updates
Nicola Hawkinson, DNP, RN, RNFA, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Delaware. Upon graduation Nicola began her career as a Registered Nurse by being accepted into Lenox Hill Hospital's first operating room nurse intern program. After successful completion, she continued as an operating room nurse specializing in orthopedics and general surgery for approximately three years.

Since 2008, Nicola has served as the CEO/ Founder of SpineSearch, a full-service recruitment, education and consulting company dedicated to orthopedic spine surgeons, neurosurgeons and pain management physicians. SpineSearch is based in New York City and services hospitals, ambulatory centers and practices nationwide.

Working with Neurosurgeons: Insights from My Many Years
Kim is a nationally recognized physician practice management and coding consultant who has worked in the health care industry for...well, let's just say a long time! Her background is ENT and neurosurgery nursing which provides her the ability to understand both the clinical and business attributes of a practice. Kim started her administrative career as the administrator for the Department of Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern in Dallas. She then spent over 25 years as a consultant with KarenZupko & Associates, Inc. where she helped many neurosurgery practices improve their processes, revenue cycle as well as coding and documentation. In fact, Kim taught the AANS practice management, coding and reimbursement courses for over 25 years. Kim was instrumental in getting NERVES off the ground and has been a long-time supporter of our organization including being on our External Advisory Board.
